The Revival Tour – Wedgewood Rooms – Review

Last night saw me descend on the Wedgewood Rooms (due to a change of venue) to attend the Revival Tour this year featuring Chuck Ragan, Dave Hause, Dan Andriano and Brian Fallon. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the show really other than it was 4 guitarists from different bands acoustically along with a double bass and fiddle. The show started off with all 4 artists along with the bassist and fiddler for about 15 minutes of performance before they took it in turns to play solo acoustic sets.

The first up was Dave Hause (The Loved Ones) who put on a great performance even though I didn’t know alot of the stuff he played it was thoroughly enjoyable. Up next was the host for the shows and the mastermind behind them in Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music), I remember seeing Chuck performing a couple of times as support to The Gaslight Anthem and being impressed by him then and nothing changed last night as he stormed his way through 35-40 minutes of songs. Next up was Dan Andriano (Alkaline Trio) who continued the trend of good fun performances and pulled out a good cover Of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ even if i’m not a major fan of Floyd myself. The last to perform their solo set was the frankly phenomenal Brian Fallon (The Gaslight Anthem) not only did he perform a fantastic selection of songs I had forgotten how good his on stage banter was! It was a really good laugh and sing-along throughout his set concluding with The Gaslight Anthem’s ‘American Slang’. Finally saw all the musicians finish up together again for another 20 minutes which included a stunning collaborative version of ‘The ’59 Sound’ before finishing off with ‘Revival Road’, it was a nice touch for them to let the young Girl on stage with them aswell.

Overall it was a good thoroughly enjoyable night and I will definitely have to keep my eye out to see any future Revival Tours as if last night was anything to go by they will never be anything short of an amazing night out.
