Green Day have announced that they’re currently working on a trilogy of albums. The band have reunited with Dookie producer Rob Cavallo and are currently working on the three-album set – titled ‘Uno’, ‘Dos’ and ‘Tré’ – in an Oakland studio. “We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives,” reads an official statement from the band. “This is the best music we’ve ever written, and the songs just keep coming. Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can’t help ourselves. We are going epic as fuck!”
The first of these albums will be released in September through Warners. I have to say to this day I still genuinely love ‘Dookie’ and I thought that ‘American Idiot’ was a stunning return to form, however the previous release ’21st Century Breakdown’ was in my opinion shocking, as a result I’m not sure how these albums will turn out. It has to be said though that the fear of releasing three albums so close together means that there will be an overflow of below par filler songs, I guess come September we’ll find out.
